While later albums and earlier EPs focused on eskimo \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=grime\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Zomby%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Xl%20Recordings%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Starkey%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22D%20Double%20E%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Gobstopper%20Records%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Mumdance%20%26%20Logos%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Novelist%20X%20Mumdance%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Mungo%27S%20Hi-Fi%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Addison%20Groove%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003egrime\u003c\/a\u003e, mutant garage and dubstep, \u003cem\u003eWWUI9\u003c\/em\u003e2 is a tribute to the classic rave sound immortalized on records by \u003cstrong\u003eManix\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003e2 Bad Mice\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eA Guy Called Gerald\u003c\/strong\u003e and countless others. The album was hand picked from a selection of over 300 tracks the producer claims to have banged out on an Akai S2000 sampler and Atari ST computer: weapons of choice for O.G. purveyors of UK hardcore and darkside jungle. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=zomby\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Zomby%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Xl%20Recordings%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eZomby\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e’s kitchen sink sample collages are faithfully executed in the spirit of the genre: plenty of “\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=think%20about%20it\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Lyn%20Collins%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003ethink\u003c\/a\u003e” \u0026amp; “sing sing” breaks thrown in alongside piano stabs from \u003cstrong\u003eTerrorize\u003c\/strong\u003e \u0026amp; \u003cstrong\u003eBizarre Inc\u003c\/strong\u003e. But \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=zomby\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Zomby%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Xl%20Recordings%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eZomby\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e is bass music’s \u003cem\u003eenfant terrible\u003c\/em\u003e, so he sneaks in vocals from \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=aaliyah\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Aaliyah%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAaliyah\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=gucci%20mane\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Gucci%20Mane%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGucci Mane\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e \u0026amp; \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=peaches\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Mr.%20Oizo%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePeaches\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e just to irritate the purists. Aside from the more contemporary influences woven into the mix, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=zomby\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Zomby%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Xl%20Recordings%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eZomby\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e’s breakbeat science is so on point that some of the tunes leave no clues that they were recorded this century (it’s hard to believe there wasn’t already a hardcore rave track built around the “Tears In The Rain” monologue from \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=blade%20runner\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Vangelis%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003eBlade Runner\u003c\/a\u003e, but we’re still digging). Originally released as a CD on Darren Cunningham (\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=actress\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Joy%20Orbison%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Actress%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Lukid%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Wiley%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eActress\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e)’s \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=werk+discs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003eWerk Discs\u003c\/a\u003e imprint in 2008, the album was finally given a full vinyl release on \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=zomby\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Zomby%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Xl%20Recordings%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eZomby\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e’s own Cult Music label in 2012. Although we’d kill for some of these tracks pressed loud and deep on a 12-inch, it’s rare to find an album pressed to a single LP that bangs from front to back.
