What I love most about \u003cstrong\u003eAyers\u003c\/strong\u003e productions are the dark and dissonant chords that always find their way into his lighthearted boogie grooves (\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=DJ+Rashad\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDJ Rashad\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e made great use of them throughout his career as well). Case in point: the smokey “Remember To Remember” featuring radio DJ \u003cstrong\u003eRick Holmes\u003c\/strong\u003e rattling off a list of black heroes past \u0026amp; present, or \u003cstrong\u003eEthel Beatty\u003c\/strong\u003e’s sensual boogie singalong “I Know You Care”… there’s a certain moodiness that’s just simply not present in \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=mizell\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMizell Bros\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e productions or the hottest \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=Salsoul\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eSalsoul\u003c\/a\u003e \/ \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=West+End\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eWest End\u003c\/a\u003e twelves (which are all perfectly fine!). Well thank god I can finally part with my scratchy beater copy of \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=Sylvia+Striplin\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSylvia Striplin\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e’s “Give Me Your Love” twelve, as it’s included here along with the equally crucial b-side “You Can’t Turn Me Away” (“\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=junior%20mafia\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Junior%20M.A.F.I.A.%22\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eSpin my V, smoke all my weed…\u003c\/a\u003e”). Also: \u003cstrong\u003eEighties Ladies\u003c\/strong\u003e’ “Turned On To You,” \u003cstrong\u003eJusto Almerio\u003c\/strong\u003e’s “Interlude” (if anyone’s reading this, we desperately need a reissue of the entire LP), 70s jazz-funk flute queen \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=Bobbi+Humphrey\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBobbi Humphrey\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e’s (moonlighting from \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=Blue+Note\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eBlue Note\u003c\/a\u003e) sparkling rollerdisco jam “Baby Don’t You Know,” \u003cstrong\u003eJaymz Bedford\u003c\/strong\u003e’s “Just Keep My Boogie.” Best of all is the inclusion of rare \u003cstrong\u003eAyers\u003c\/strong\u003e solo joints “Everybody,” “And Then We Were One,” and the relentlessly cool “Chicago,” making this a layup for the ‘comp you didn’t know you needed of 2018’ award. 12 tracks in total, 3 per side, with extensive liner notes on the back cover.
