Their partnership, which dates back to high school (not that long actually; Wise and Shrager are only 19 and 21, respectively), is so solid that the first song they ever wrote together appears here as side 1 track 1, and they even named the album after it. \u003cem\u003eHaze\u003c\/em\u003e is a life-affirming blend of girl group charm, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=beach+boys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBrian Wilson\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e’s psych pop, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=Phil+Spector\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSpector\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e-style rock \u0026amp; roll and the indie chic of classic New York bands like \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=Blonde+Redhead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBlonde Redhead\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e and \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=Galaxie+500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGalaxie 500\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e. It’s the compelling songwriting, plus their deftness at their own instruments (proven by \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/blogs\/ttl-instores\/the-shacks-live-at-turntable-lab-nyc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003etheir performance\u003c\/a\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/blogs\/ttl-instores\/the-shacks-live-at-turntable-lab-nyc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e at the \u003cem\u003eHaze\u003c\/em\u003e release show\u003c\/a\u003e at our East Village storefront) and Wise’s sugary, hair-raising voice that makes \u003cem\u003eHaze\u003c\/em\u003e such a thrill.
