Cornell conceived the group as a tribute to Wood, tapping former Mother Love Bone members \u003cstrong\u003eStone Gossard\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eJeff Ament\u003c\/strong\u003e, as well as future \u003ca title=\"Pearl Jam\" href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=Pearl+Jam\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePearl Jam\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e guitarist \u003cstrong\u003eMike McCready\u003c\/strong\u003e and Soundgarden drummer \u003cstrong\u003eMatt Cameron\u003c\/strong\u003e to record songs he had written while on tour. \u003cstrong\u003eEddie Vedder\u003c\/strong\u003e appears on the album as well, having come from San Diego to audition for the band that would become Pearl Jam.
