The contemporary incarnation of the group sees Barlow joining with bass player \u003cstrong\u003eJason Lowenstein\u003c\/strong\u003e (\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=firey+furnaces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFirey Furnaces\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e) and dummer \u003cstrong\u003eBob D’Amico\u003c\/strong\u003e. Making a few records together has solidified their chops, giving \u003cem\u003eAct Surprised\u003c\/em\u003e a higher fidelity sound than previous efforts, with hard-hitting drums and a shimmering high-end. “Phantom” is a strong start with tommy gun drumrolls, “Celebrate The Void” is an up-front vocal, hazily treated guitars, and a solid, buzzy bassline. “See-Saw” features chipper acoustic guitar flourishes, “Raging River” has a massive bluesy riff.
