You’ve seen it before: anonymous musical collective, pitch black artwork, “let the music speak for itself”, etc… I really didn’t want to like this as much as I do. Each album is highly approachable and devoid of pretense, executed entirely on their own terms. There’s so much ground covered, from afrobeat and samba to vintage funk and AM soul to golden era rap and Chicago house; it’s safe to say whoever’s involved have spent their lives devouring and mastering these styles. This sorta quells my 10+ year desire for a new \u003cstrong\u003eSa-Ra\u003c\/strong\u003e record, although \u003cstrong\u003eSault\u003c\/strong\u003e don’t really sound anything like them. Check out \"Living in America,\" \"Threats\" and \"Friends.\" Bonus points for the mastering which feels lightweight and unoppressive. These have been increasingly hard to get ahold of, especially in North America, so get on top of it.
