The legendary band from Benin, led by vocalist and guitarist Melome Clement, boasts an extensive back catalog that is filled with surprises. Anchored by the rhythm section of drummer Leopold Yehouessi and bassist Gustave Bentho the band combined the  rhythms such as sato and sakpato from the local Vodoun religion with a myriad of international musical influences. The Orchestre took cues from Cuban son and popular African dance music to the funk of James Brown and the psychedelic sounds coming out of the US.
