At the time of its release, many hip hop heads dismissed Biggie, \u003cstrong\u003ePuff\u003c\/strong\u003e and the ubiquitous \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=bad%20boy\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Blackcash%20%26%20Theo%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Bobby%20Brown%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Capone-N-Noreaga%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Dead%20Prez%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Digital%20Underground%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Dj%207L%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Notorious%20B.I.G.%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Notorious%20Big%22%20OR%20Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Pete%20Rock%20%26%20C.L.%20Smooth%22\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eBad Boy\u003c\/a\u003e movement (a.k.a. the “jiggy” sound) as too flashy and materialistic, but the truth is that \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=life%20after%20death\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Notorious%20B.I.G.%22\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eLife After Death\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e has more #bars than any underground hip-hop record released within two years of it. Check Big’s epic storytelling on “N****s Bleed” and “Somebody’s Gotta Die”, or the gritty street anthems “What’s Beef” and “Ten Crack Commandments” (at least a decade before “coke rap” was a thing) for proof. Not to mention the soul-baring humility of “Sky’s The Limit”. Big delivers an unforgettable verse on “Notorious Thugs” proving he can keep up with midwestern speed demons \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=bone+thugs\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBone Thugs N Harmony\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e any day of the week. “Going Back To Cali”, “I Love The Dough” and “Fuck You Tonight” are all sing-a-long club smashes to this day, and we haven’t even mentioned any of the radio singles. Production is handled by \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=dj+premier\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDJ Premier\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eEasy Mo Bee\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eBuckwild\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=RZA\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eRZA\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e and of course, Puff Daddy \u0026amp; The Hitmen. Rarely (especially in hip-hop) do you get a triple LP \/ double CD this consistent. We’ll always love Big Poppa.
