The group, founded by \u003cstrong\u003eBeate Bartel\u003c\/strong\u003e (\u003cstrong\u003eMania D\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eEinstürzende Neubauten\u003c\/strong\u003e) and \u003cstrong\u003eChrislo Haas\u003c\/strong\u003e (\u003cstrong\u003eDeutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft\u003c\/strong\u003e) together with vocalist \u003cstrong\u003eKrishna Goineau\u003c\/strong\u003e, had a lasting effect of EBM (electronic body music). Their sound can be heard in early Chicago house and Detroit techno. \"Los Niños del Parque,\" one of the standouts from the album, can still be heard in DJ sets today. The vocals are barked in a co-ed mix of Spanish, German, French, and jumbled English, giving the music an extra edge of confusion and disorientation. But it's the pulsating rhythms at the heart of tracks like \"Avant-Après Mars\" and \"Peut Être ... Pas\" that are the real attraction. The later was sampled by \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/turntablelab.mom\/search?q=Carl+Craig\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCarl Craig\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e and played out by \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/turntablelab.mom\/search?q=Ron+Hardy\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eRon Hardy\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e. Both bizarre and captivating, \u003ci\u003eLiaisons Dangereuses\u003c\/i\u003e is one of those records that deserves to be a part of any self respecting dance music fan's collection.
