This LP combines \u003cstrong\u003eCrumb\u003c\/strong\u003e’s first two self-released cassette EPs from 2017. For the longest, you could only get these at the band’s shows, with modest quantities occasionally appearing on their online store before disappearing and resurfacing on second hand sites at a ridiculous markup. The self-titled EP on side A spells out the ingredients for the band’s unique cauldron of jazz, psych and indie rock. \u003cstrong\u003eLila Ramani\u003c\/strong\u003e’s voice is simultaneously bluesy and twee on “Bones” and “So Tired,” while “Vinta” demonstrates the crew’s jazz chops (\u003cstrong\u003eRamani\u003c\/strong\u003e’s loosely affiliated with \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=Standing%20On%20The%20Corner\u0026amp;filter=Category_fq:%22Vinyl%20Records%20%2F%20Music%22\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eStanding On The Corner\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e) before shifting into psych mode with a motorik groove. Flip it over to the \u003cem\u003eLocket\u003c\/em\u003e EP and you can hear the band making huge strides, with even more arresting grooves and intoxicating atmosphere on each track. “Locket” is the crown jewel here, making the greatest use of the band’s melodic sensibilities with a deadly bassline and absolutely stellar production. “Recently Played” is cool and unhurried, and “Thirty Nine” is a sick extended psychedelic jam. Sorta recalls the downtown naïveté of early \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=Blonde+Redhead\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBlonde Redhead\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e, more recent \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=King+Krule\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eKing Krule\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e stuff or that \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?\u0026amp;q=star%20stuff\u0026amp;filter=Brand\/Manufacturer\/Artist_fq:%22Chaz%20Bundick%20Meets%20The%20Mattson%202%22\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eToro\u003c\/strong\u003e \/ \u003cstrong\u003eMattson 2\u003c\/strong\u003e album\u003c\/a\u003e (don't miss the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=crumb+jinx\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCrumb\u003c\/strong\u003e full-length\u003c\/a\u003e too).
