The album is the product of two years that brought massive changes to his life - the birth of the son, and the death of a loved one. This record was primarily a solo effort, worked on during a touring-heavy, nomadic period of his life. More experimental than his prior releases, this record demonstrates influence from electronica, krautrock, and afrobeat music. “Fertility Filter” starts with ambient chimes that are enlivened by rugged breaks, low-slung bass, and vocals creeping in at the margins. “Beautiful People” is a more foreboding track, clipped vocal samples, marauding sub-bass, and delicate keyboard leads. \u003cem\u003eA Loveless Sunken Sun\u003c\/em\u003e is an atmospheric and richly impressionistic work that demonstrates a new side of King’s production mastery. Packaged in a Pantone spot-color jacket and inner, this LP is pressed on limited edition pink colored vinyl.
