Harding’s voice is the star here, her cryptic lyrics expressed effortlessly in breathy baritone and delicate falsetto, but the instrumentation (and percussion especially) has diversified wildly. Her strange cadence brings charm to the title track “Designer”, whispering cymbals and chirping marimba backing sunnily strummed guitar. “The Barrel” begins with light finger-picking slashed through by steady baritone sax and violin washes. “Treasure” is equally dramatic and delicate, eerily effected voice and straightforward chords. The record is produced by \u003cstrong\u003eJohn Parish\u003c\/strong\u003e (Who also produced 2017’s \u003cstrong\u003eParty\u003c\/strong\u003e), known for his collaborations with \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=pj+harvey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePJ Harvey\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e and more recently \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.turntablelab.mom\/search?type=product\u0026amp;q=jenny+hval\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eJenny Hval\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e.
