Check the drums on \"Breathe,\" the kicks and hand claps are liberated from standard beat measures. \"Camel\" creates movement we're not used to in a beat track; you can tell there's something else going on here. \"Comet Course\" shows the complete package in an uptempo flurry stew. \"GNG BNG\" is so fresh sounding, I can just picture Gaslamp playing this and doing his patented possessed behind-the-decks dance. In a play of depth, Flylo enlists several vocalist for the last third of the album including songstress Dolly on \"RobertaFlack\" and Gaslamp's partner Gonja Sufi on \"Testament.\" 17 tracks overall, it lives up to the hype. Thom Yorke, \"Arkestry\" with its freeform Sun Ra feel, the uplifting \"MmmHmmm,\" future house grooves on \"Do The Astral Plane,\" and with Thundercat, and the groovin' \"Dance Of The Pseudo Nymph.\" 17 tracks total. The beats of old BOC releases are still there, it just seems they are more integrated to the other parts of the tracks. Although I like it when the beats oppose the rest of the song, this approach results in more of that polished \"professional\" sound, which seems to be the natural progression of our favorite downtempo producers. This album is closer in line to counterparts like Air. Although BOC did revisit the childlike atmosphere of their debut, something more sinister was afoot with this release. Some fans have even gone so far as to come up with outlandish interpretations of some of the album's song titles. While the fans may have been searching for meaning in the titles, BOC provided little info beyond the music. Nostalgic as the sound of their compositions was, their once innocent sounding warbling synths were now imbued with a mischievous spirit. Further more they filled in the silent spaces with more ominous drone. This all tended to create a slightly more malicious atmosphere. Overall \u003ci\u003eGeogaddi\u003c\/i\u003e was a satisfying release, especially for how hotly anticipated it was. Warp has done a great service to all those BOC fans that missed out on the vinyl when it initially came out in offering this reissue. In retrospect, this album was much more realized than its downtempo counterparts, dude was already way more advanced than the cut and paste of the day. A downtempo classic indeed. Through all of this he maintained his individuality and gained an infamous reputation with music journalists. You can hear some of that come through on a few of the more goofy tunes, such as album closer \"Logan-Rock Witch.\" Being a true-to-form vinyl reissue of the original LP, this official Warp pressing sadly lacks the chimerical \/ hysterical US CD-only cut \"Milkman,\" but that should not dissuade you from picking it up... it's worth the price of admission for \"Yellow Calx\" alone. If you want some corny anthem shit just go buy a Junior Senior or Scissor Sisters record and let the Daft guys have a little artistic expression. That being said, there are still some really addictive songs amongst the ten here. \"Human After All\" opens things up in familiar territory with the vocoders, big stadium drums and what not, while \"Television Rules The Nation\" rocks slow and steady at under 115bpm. The album's most satisfying moments come from the more intimate songs like \"Make Love\" and \"Emotion\" though, soft touch production that feels a little like Air (in the best possible way).
